The Beer Mile World Classic and Beer Mile Media are proud to announce the creation of the US Open Beer Mile. The inaugural event will take place on Saturday, July 16th, and will be run at Chicago's Montrose Harbor Track.
The races will help determine the US National Team that will compete at the Beer Mile World Classic in Leuven Belgium in October. Americans will be competing for over $5,000 in travel funding for the world classic, and the right to claim the legitimate title of US Beer Mile Champion.
The race is also open to international athletes, and that includes the men's world record holder Corey Bellemore. Women's world record holder Allison Grace Morgan headlines what may be the best women's field ever assembled. The field will feature former World Champion Caitlin Batten and 2020 Beer Mile World Classic Runner-up Elizabeth Laseter. American Record Holder and Chicago local Chris Robertson headlines an American men's contingent that looks to keep the Kingston Cup (Team World Championship) in American hands for a sixth straight year.
IPA 10k Founder, Matt Dockstader, is pumped to bring this event to Chicago. “We wanted to bring something truly unique to the participants and there is something for everyone at this event. Chicago is a town that loves beer, and we think they're going to go crazy for the Beer Mile races." Beer Mile World Classic co-founder, John Markell is just as effusive. "The IPA 10k has hosted several elite beer miles in California. Our athletes love it, and we know the race in Chicago is going to be a barnburner."
